We are pleased to announce that Mr. John Hooper, Jr. is our new boys’ lacrosse (LAX) coach. Mr. Hooper has been playing or coaching the sport for 32 years, beginning in the third grade. Mr. Hooper was a High School All American and played for the NCAA Division 1 team at Washington and Lee University. He was head coach for the Brown University JV team, Head Coach for the URI and Bryant University club teams, and Head Coach at Portsmouth Abbey.

Mr. Hooper is also the President of Porta Phone, the leading supplier of football coaches communication systems.

Said Coach Hooper, “It is a tremendous privilege to have the chance to work with these students on the lacrosse field. I have spoken with many of the players and am so impressed. This is a real opportunity for me to give back to Prout for all the school has done for my two boys, John and Dan. Prout made such an incredible difference in their lives.”

Both of Mr. Hooper’s sons – Dan ’10 and John ’08 – played varsity lacrosse for Prout.
