211 College Prep English 11
Grade 11, 1 credit
Prerequisite: Successful Completion of Tenth Grade English
Junior English is designed for college-bound students to help further develop critical thinking, thesis writing, literary knowledge, and general language proficiency. This is accomplished through the study of various pieces of literature. Students are encouraged to further develop their abilities to formulate, substantiate, and communicate their personal view. The course emphasizes higher-level cognitive skills – analysis, synthesis, and evaluation – as applied to literature and thesis writing abilities. All college preparatory juniors complete a unit on the research process, which culminates in their writing a ten to twelve page analytical paper.
