In this course, students will have the opportunity to experiment with the four different categories of sculpture: carving, casting, modeling and construction. We will be working with freestanding as well as relief sculpture. Three-dimensional solutions to visual problems will be actualized through the process of two-dimensional sketches and maquettes. A foundation of the elements and principles of design will be built and utilized throughout the learning process. Aesthetics and art criticism will be used to interpret and analyze artworks of your own and other artists throughout history and cultures.
