This semester long course will cover a wide variety of art styles and movements throughout history, beginning with ancient civilizations and non-western art styles and ending with the modern period. In addition to looking at examples of art styles, students will examine the exogenous factors which can lead to different art movements. Art criticism and aesthetics will be important aspects of this class and will help students draw their own conclusions. A paper will be assigned along with a project/ presentation.
