Honors Anatomy & Physiology
Grade 9, 1 credit
Prerequisites: Honors Curriculum/Junior High Science
In this course students will develop an understanding and appreciation of the human body. The students will learn the anatomical structures of the body from the chemical level through the system level. They will also investigate the physiology of these structures through a variety of sources. The students will learn how the body maintains homeostasis. They will be provided with examples of homeostatic imbalances and explanations of medical conditions and diseases as well as the current treatments used. Students will spend six weeks studying the major muscles and organs of the body through the dissection of a fetal pig.
