Students raised just over $2,500.00 for Hurricane Ike Relief during the last week of September. Homerooms competed for a 1st place prize of a Pizza Party and a second place prize of a Donut and Juice party by collecting money each morning. The competition was made more fun by each homeroom tracking its progress on the thermometer flyers made by junior Isabel Brogna.
Homeroom 540, under the leadership of Senor Saul Disla was the winning homeroom and Homeroom 310, with homeroom teacher Mr. Clossik came in second.
A good time was had by all as students reached out to serve their neighbors in need. The money collected was sent to Catholic Relief Services.

On Wednesday, September 3rd the entire school community gathered together to celebrate Prout Day, beginning the day with the Mass of the Holy Spirit. Joining Father Stowe, Prout's chaplain, were 8 visiting priests who concelebrated mass with him.
The school's Director of Religious Ministries, Mrs. Kathleen Pesta, gave the students a brief background on Mother Mary Joseph Prout, the founder of the religious order which built the school and the woman for whom the school is named and shared with the assembled congregation that Prout's cause is being reviewed for canonization.
In his homily, Father Stowe encouraged the students to believe in the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives and to participate in the sacraments regularly. The double theme of carrying on Mary Prout's example of service and doing so under the guidance of the Holy Spirit were brought out through new banners which hung on either side of the altar and through the music and prayers of the liturgy.
