Grades 9-12, one half credit
Prerequisite: None
Creative Writing is a one semester English elective. It is a labor intensive course designed to challenge and expand the students’ abilities concerning the execution and development of a creative voice given three prospective genres of study: fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. This class will introduce various pieces of writing in each genre in order to serve as models to help students investigate an author’s subject matters style, voice, ideology, etc. As such, in utilizing such models, students will develop a working repertoire of styles and voices to help them create their own.
