What does being a student ambassador entail?  Why did you want to be a student ambassador?
Being a student ambassador means that you are a chosen representative of the school, both inside and outside of it.  Generally, during the freshman and sophomore years, Student Ambassadors primarily assist by allowing prospective students to shadow or help with the organizing of Open House.  It is the juniors and, specifically, the seniors that travel to middle schools to advocate Prout to possible incoming freshman and who administer tours at Open House.
I am a relatively new Student Ambassador.  It is my senior year and also first year as an Ambassador.  When I was younger, it seemed that I was going to be at Prout forever and, only this fall, did it dawn on me that my time here was almost to a close that I chose to become a Student Ambassador.  It seemed important to me to help influence the new students coming in to Prout, almost as leaving my special mark on Prout.

How do you become an ambassador?
A student becomes an Ambassador by applying to Ms. Need, the Director of Admissions, at the beginning of the year.  It is expected that applicants be good students and participation in after-school activities is a definite plus. Ms. Need then decides how you can best serve Prout as a Student Ambassador and you are given specific tasks to do.

What roles and responsibilities are given to you as a Student Ambassador?  What do you enjoy most?
As a Student Ambassador, you are responsible for always representing Prout in a respectful manner.  Of course, along with respect goes a healthy dose of Prout Pride!!
What I enjoy most about being a Student Ambassador is the fact that I am helping to recruit a high caliber students to the school.  It is the Student Ambassadors that recruit the potential talent for academics and athletics, so it is a great source of pride in attracting a large pool of successful students to Prout.

How does your role impact the vision of The Prout School?
It is the Student Ambassadors that are those chosen students that specifically represent Prout to the community.  While all students truly represent Prout, it is only the Student Ambassadors that are specifically designated to the role.  This is why Student Ambassadors are held to an even higher standard then the already high one for the rest of the school.

What other clubs and activities are you involved with at the Prout School?
I have been a member of the Cross Country team for all four years, and was a Captain this year.  I also plan to compete in Track and Field for my fourth year this spring.  This year, I started a Winter Running Club that is also part of the Circuit Club, both of which I am a member to.  I also am a member of the Ping-Pong Club, Math Team, LaSallian Youth, and Crusader Pride.

What are your post-graduate plans?
When I leave Prout, I hope to proceed with my education at the University of Rhode Island.  There, I hope to be admitted to the College of Pharmacy and begin my schooling to become a pharmacist.
