Scholastics 2008
Seven seniors were selected to receive awards in the National Scholastic Art Awards Competition. The competition is very rigorous with over 30,000 young artists and writers submitting their works and only 1,160 individuals receiving the national awards. The seven Prout seniors selected and their prizes in the competition were: Elizabeth Aresti of Jamestown – Gold Key for Drawing, Ellen Boyle of Wakefield – Gold Key for Portfolio, Josh Colasante of Richmond – Gold Key for Portfolio, Tarin Nassaney of Portsmouth – Gold Key for Ceramics, Lauren Scales of Tiverton – Silver Key for Painting, Tianna Scartabello of Jamestown – Gold Key for Sculpture, and lastly, Liz Webb of Wyoming – Gold Key for Painting.
Their works were reviewed by a panel of judges looking for originality, technical proficiency, and the emergence of an authentic vision or voice. Gold Awards are given to those seniors who display the most exemplary works in each category while silver awards denote a high honors in each category.
