Scholastics 2010
This year four students at The Prout School were recognized at the Rhode Island Scholastic Art Awards. Sarah Jacobs of North Kingstown, Richard Boulet of Wakefield, Nick Pellegrino of Wakefield, and Elisa Melegari of Narragansett received awards for their various artwork pieces.
Sarah received the Silver Key for her photography piece titled “Backstage” and Richard received the Silver Key for his sculpture “Curiosity”. Nick received a gold key for his sculpture “Drebalt” and Elisa received two awards: a gold key for her drawing “Reflection” which was a self portrait and a gold key for her portfolio. A tremendous achievement, Elisa was one of only twelve students within the state to receive an Art Portfolio Award. All gold key winners will advance to the national competition.
The exhibition for all Rhode Island Scholastic Art Awards will run Sunday, January 24th through Friday, February 12th at Salve Regina’s University Gallery in the Antone Academic Center. Their works were reviewed by a panel of judges looking for originality, technical proficiency, and the emergence of an authentic vision or voice. Gold Awards are given to those seniors who display the most exemplary works in each category while silver awards denote a high honors in each category.
