What sports do you play? When did you begin playing each sport?
During the fall, I run cross country, which I began in 7th grade. In the winter, I swim. I started in swimming third grade for the YMCA Wahoos team. I played basketball for a couple of years instead of swimming but when I came to Prout, I started swimming again. I also play lacrosse in the spring. I began playing lacrosse in second grade for the Middletown Breakers league.
Which sport are you the most passionate about? Why?
I am passionate and determined in all sports, but lacrosse is definitely my favorite. Not only do I get to practice and play everyday with my best friends, but I love the game. I love running out onto the field as a team and as a defensive wing; I get to work the whole field.
How do you manage your academic workload with your demanding athletic schedule?
Managing my academics with my athletic schedule can be challenging but I have been able to handle them both without affecting one another. Everyone needs a break in between school and homework; for me, it is going to practice or a game/meet and having fun with my teammates as well as getting all of my energy out.
What has been your most memorable team moment since attending The Prout School?
I have had many memorable team moments since attending the Prout School. For lacrosse, my most memorable team moment was winning the Division II State Championships my sophomore year. Also, I will never forget the only game we have played under night lights at Portsmouth High School. That night, each player was called to the middle of the field. We started as a team and ended as a team; we won.
What does being a member of a Prout Athletic team mean to you?
Being a member of a Prout Athletic team means being committed and never giving up. It means good sportsmanship. Last year, both the boys and girls swim team not only did excellent throughout the season, we also won the Best Sportsmanship Award. As a member of a Prout Athletic team, I have a responsibility to my team and all other teams competing.
What are your plans for next year? Do you know what you would like to major in? Do you want to play sports at the college level?
Next year I am planning to go to college and majoring in math or possibly athletic training. I plan on continuing my sports in college at the club level. I will most likely play Club Lacrosse in college.
