What is your favorite part of acting?
My favorite aspect of acting is the raw audience reaction to a performance. There is nothing like the adrenaline rush that I feel when I walk on stage, and instead of feeling nervous, I am eager to entertain. When singing or acting on stage I do not mimic or imitate a character; I become that person. To experience this powerful transformation is what makes theater my passion.

The Visual and Performing Arts Department encompasses theatre, music, dance and the visual arts. It is one of the leading high school arts programs in the state with crowds that draw over 6,000 people from all across Rhode Island each year. The department strives for its students to explore and develop their creative talents in the classroom, on stage, as well as with community outreach programs. We aspire to train young performers and visual artists by preparing them to enter competitive college and conservatory arts programs. Through their study, students are encouraged to take risks, understand studio discipline and learn to work independently and cooperatively. The department presents many events each academic year. These include plays, musicals, workshops, art exhibits, and dance and music concerts. The main performance space holds a proscenium thrust stage. This auditorium seats 700 people and uses state of the art equipment.
