Fall 2022 Athletics

Girls Varsity tennis defeated Portsmouth 4 to 3. Mia Renzulli won her 3rd set tiebreak with the match all tied at 3 to 3 to give Prout the overall win. Other winning matches were:
Maddie Mattiucci in singles and
Maddie Williams/ Caitlin Trainor
Maddie Laviolette / Maddy Bormes in doubles. 
Girls' JV tennis lost to EG 5-0.
 
Girls' cross country beat Narragansett but lost to Westerly, ending the dual meet season with a winning record. Laurel McMahon, Sophia Abbot , Brooklyn Manfreddi, Mary McMahon, and Waela Van Nostrand all had impressive races. 
 
Boys' cross country defeated Westerly and Narragansett.  They ended the dual meet season 6-2, qualifying for the State Cross Country Championship. 

Blake Sykes and Jesse Fitzelle Jones finished 2nd and 3rd.  Adrian Gvosdev Kranz, Jake Demos and Will Axford were all in the top ten. 

Girls' varsity soccer tied Ponaganset 2-2. Aria Waterman and Taylor Roberts scored. Kenzie Moniz and Lizzie Fraza were standouts on defense and Taylor Roberts stood out up top.

 
Girls' JV soccer lost 3-0. 
 
The Prout/EWG JV football team made strides in the right direction this week and had a great game from Quarterback Mark Benedict, with a 70-yard Touch Down pass to Prout freshman tight end Dylan "Gronk" Delgado. Delgado also turned in a great performance on defense making several tackles and picking up a fumble recovery. Billy Paniccia had a great game at offensive guard, leading the rush attack on offense. The team will face off against Tiverton HS next week. 
 
Boys' varsity soccer lost to North Providence 5-2. Drew McCaughey had a goal;  Tyler Simo had a goal and an assist and Matt Chofay had an assist.
 
Boys' JV soccer lost 3-1.
 
The Jv volleyball team was defeated by East Greenwich 2-0.
 
The varsity volleyball team earned their 2nd victory of the season with a 3-0 sweep of East Greenwich.  Sydney Decarvalho finished with 6 kills, 1 ace, and 10 digs.  Sylvia Mayo added 4 kills, 1 ace, and 7 digs.  Alice McGuire added 4 kills.
 
In action today, Varsity tennis travels to LaSalle with a 4pm start. Boys' JV soccer heads to Bishop Hendricken for a 4pm kick-off. Volleyball travels to Classical, JV at 4:45, Varsity at 6:30.  Good Luck Crusaders!
