Core Curriculum

Students must earn at least 24 credits to receive a Prout diploma. Students fulfill the credit units under the graduation requirements (column, right) in each of the stated academic areas. Some colleges highly recommend a fourth year in math, language, science, or social studies. All other coursework becomes elective in nature. 

Electives are available in English, visual and performing arts, social studies, science and math. Please refer to the full Program of Studies for a listing and description of each course offered. The Prout School reserves the right to add or drop courses without prior notice, depending on enrollment and other factors.

As a Catholic school, we also ask all students to complete 20 hours of Christian service each year, as a requirement of graduation. 

Prout is proud to be the only high school in Rhode Island to offer the prestigous International Baccalaureate  program. Juniors and seniors, if approved, are eligible to take IB courses as electives or pursue a complete IB degree. Click here to find out more about the IB program at Prout.
